Children's Emergency Assistance
We help where the need is greatest. Through our social worker and our principal on site, we regularly receive reports of emergencies. Recently, a student asked if she could take some rice home because her little brothers were hungry. During a subsequent visit to the student’s home—an environment hostile to children—our principal discovered that the ten-year-old girl had to take on the role of mother for her younger brothers, aged 4 and 7, because the children’s mother lives permanently in a facility and their elderly grandfather only occasionally received money as a day laborer, leaving the children inadequately cared for both physically and emotionally. In short, we decided to include the children in our social program and rent an apartment where they can be cared for by our team in a child-friendly environment.
